The nation went to the polls today. I went to the range. Here in NC, our primary isn't until May. Our voice will be heard too late.
I'm struggling with this, my inability to impact the nation's course. Any man or woman with a keen awareness of the world should not take lightly their patriotic footprint, the mark they leave in history. So I have decided to do what I can.
What I can do is photography.
There are 39 weeks until the general election. None of the front running candidates have stellar gun rights records, and a few in particular have stood in favor of banning many guns.
I wrote this in April, and never acted on it: "I am heartbroken by Virginia Tech. A large part of the success of my website is due to the On Target documentary and the connections I’ve made with that work . . . This is a pivotal time for the people at On Target, who woke up this morning as members of a very unpopular demographic."
For better or worse, our nation's course may soon lead us away from places like On Target. Because the direction of that course is out of my hands, I can only record our current bearing. And I will keep recording, until that right is also denied.
